In this week’s episode of Building Memories, we’re diving into the creative process behind designing the perfect dog park for our furry guests. As you can see from our team’s “backyard testing,” the potential dog park features are already receiving a resounding 8 paws up!
At Standing Pines Resort, we’re committed to creating an unforgettable experience for all our guests, including those with four legs. With 83 RV campsites, 14 tent campsites, and 12 rental units nestled in a beautiful natural setting, there’s something for everyone – and their furry friends.
To ensure we create a safe and fun dog park, we’re following ten essential tips from Southeast Outdoors Solutions. From determining the park’s purpose and selecting the perfect location to establishing rules and incorporating play equipment, we are planning a haven of fun and play for our Best Friends!
Let’s take a sneak peek at our dog park concept art to talk about the design features. First, note the two separate planned dog parks. These adjacent parks allow smaller dogs a place to run apart from the larger breeds. Both parks feature a double gated entry area for security. Both dog parks show multiple activities, benches, a water fountain and even a custom hill with a tunnel for adventurous pups.
It is important to note the dog park is envisioned as an off-lease park. This means it will be critical for all guests with dogs to maintain control of their furry family members. Aggressive or less socialized dogs may need their humans to carefully pick times when there are no other dogs in the park to safely play.
Forgot a treat for your pup? No worries! The camp store will carry a small supply of canine approved treats. The Standing Pines Resort pups – the somewhat ironically nicknamed “Peace” and “Quiet” – enjoy special treats from the local specialty pet food store Purrs McBarkin. This unique store is just 15 minutes from Standing Pines Resort and is a great stop for those looking for more information or options for dog food options!
The planned location for the dog park offers plenty of open space to run as well as trees for shade and play. Based on guest feedback, we’re also repurposing four back-in RV sites near the dog park as “4 Dogs” sites, which will be extra dog-friendly with potential features like a shared dog run. While this is a new concept for Standing Pines Resort, we are excited to think about the possibilities of creating this special space tucked in the corner of the resort for families that love to Discover Memories Together while camping with fur babies.
