At Standing Pines Resort, we’re not just building a campground – we’re creating an unforgettable experience for our guests. Central to this vision is our stunning 3-acre pond, designed to offer a variety of recreational activities and serene natural beauty. Join us as we dive into the planning process behind this exciting feature!
Envisioning the Possibilities
Our concept art showcases the incredible potential of the pond, from peaceful fishing spots to a future floating dock and boat rentals. Imagine gliding across the water in a small electric boat, canoe, or kayak, taking in the breathtaking surroundings of our 80+ acre resort. It’s the perfect way to “Discover Memories Together™” with your loved ones.
Creating a New Ecosystem
When complete, the engineered pond will span just over 3 acres, featuring a lined bottom for water retention and a well-stocked fish population. We’ve also incorporated a spillway to protect the surrounding ecosystem. While budget considerations have influenced our decisions, we’re committed to providing a fantastic experience from day one. This new pond will not only provide habitat for fish, it should also attract water birds and support the native wildlife on the 80 acre property with a new freshwater source.
Balancing Recreation and Regulation
As we embarked on the engineering and permitting phase, our team carefully considered how to balance our desire for recreational opportunities with the essential environmental purpose of the pond. The pond’s primary function is to provide stormwater management, ensuring the resort maintains a harmonious relationship with the natural environment.
Leveraging Expert Resources
To ensure we’re creating the best possible pond, we’ve turned to expert resources like Clemson’s HOA Stormwater Pond Maintenance Guide and the invaluable guidance of our engineer and general contractor. By tapping into their knowledge, we can craft a pond that not only meets our guests’ expectations but also thrives in harmony with the local environment.

We’re currently researching the ideal types of fish to initially stock in our 3-acre, 4-6 foot deep freshwater pond, located in the stunning Pee Dee region of South Carolina. We’d love to hear from you – what fish do you think would thrive in this environment? Comment below to share your thoughts!
Phased Approach for Continual Improvement
At our grand opening, guests can expect a lovely 3-acre pond with an initial stock of fish for catch-and-release fishing and a serene walking path around the perimeter. As we grow, we’ll continue to enhance the pond’s offerings, adding the planned dock, increasing fish stock, and introducing rental electric boats for even more aquatic adventures.
Construction Update and Community Challenge
As we continue to make progress on the overall construction of Standing Pines Resort, we’re thrilled to see our vision coming to life. We can’t wait to welcome you to our little piece of paradise, where you can “Discover Memories Together™” with your family and friends.
